Going the extra mile for NSW
By PETE FISHER NORTHUMBERLAND TODAY
COBOURG -- It was an unbelievable experience for six people after walking 100 kilometres in less than 24 hours.
Tracy West, Joel Scott, Mike Godin, Andrea Johnson and Becky Deremo and Michelle Robinson completed their goal of walking the distance.
Others joined in starting at Bodilogix starting at 7 p.m. on Friday and heading north on Ontario Street.
Though the six had goals of 100 kilometres, three others -- Sandra Stothart, Cindy Adams and Angel Targon -- who joined had a smaller goal of 25 kilometres for the walking distance and everyone completed what they set out to do.
"The goal was to raise money for Northumberland Services for Women, and Bodilogix is all about challenging yourself and we thought this was a great challenge," said Johnson.
Last year's 100 kilometre walk was over the course of two days and was inspired by former Cobourg Deputy Police Chief Dave Cromlish's goal to lose 100 pounds, which he accomplished.
Throughout their journey the walkers passed through Cobourg, Port Hope, Grafton, Wicklow and Lakeport.
"Your enemy is your feet," said Johnson who was the only returning member from last years walk. "I did far more training this year to get ready."
The first order of business was to get a healthy dose of bug spray applied before leaving on the quest.
And then the group was off at 7 p.m.
By Saturday, the three others had completed their goals of distance they'd wanted to achieve and the six walkers had broken into three groups.
West and Robinson were separated by eight kilometres from the last pair by mid-afternoon.
For the last kilometre walking south on Ontario Street, Johnson and Robinson were joined by Robinson's two sons Tyler and Tanner.
"I thought I knew what I was in for," Robinson said shortly after completing the 100 kilometre walk.
"The last 20 kilometres were unbelievable -in utter pain. But we kept on. Tracy was amazing and we kept pushing each other."
During the night as the pair was walking they were both a little unnerved when the headlights they were using stopped working, "just as we were talking about the bears and ghosts on Danforth Road."
"We have no headlights, our support vehicle isn't around and it's pitch black."
A support vehicle driven by Dave Cromlish would travel to each group checking on their progress.
But by 4:20 a.m. the sun started to rise and it was "unbelievably gorgeous."
A washroom break on Saturday turned into a bit of a fundraiser when the pair stopped by a friend of West's.
"Tracy knew Jamie Gordon and they let us in and said don't take your shoes off. On the way out they handed us a cheque for $50."
Listening to inspirational music and sharing stories with her walking partner is what got Robinson through the journey, but would she do it again?
"I would do the training, but I'm not sure if I would do the walk."

Santa Claus is coming to town...
Hopefully for his own good health he stops by the Bodilogix for a wee bit of a workout…
Ho Ho Ho!!!
Once again Bodilogix our fit as a fiddle rag tag gang of elves ventured out in the streets of Cobourg to welcome the Jolly man to our fine town. Always a lot of fun the excitement was at a frenzy as our enthusiastic team of elves all pitched in put in our entry this year entitled "Elves in training". A big shout out to Kimberly, Miss Larissa and Miss Emily as they lifted their dumbbell presents with great a plume all the while flashing the crowd some pretty "jiggy" dance moves.
“Ditto” to our Miss Trish Reid and Sandra Stothart and the lovely Mrs.Doris Biron who braved the chill in full "elf gear" and really put on a great show of energy and vigor as they marched along the parade route. Although it was a wee bit chilly, a good time was clearly had by both those in the parade, and all the many souls young and younger that lined the streets three rows thick…
Henry Long (5) and Liam Cummings (7) drew many smiles as our two young elves drove their elf car loaded with presents and candy canes to the delight of many school chums shouting their names. Liam reported he felt "famous".
Sheri Russell and Devin Olivieri were on hand to handle the all important job of carrying the Bodilogix Official Banner. Probably the most intense workout either has had in a while...that is HEAVY!!!
"Great job guys!!!"
Hats off to the behind the scenes team of Andre Arff and David Long for their hard work putting our float together in record time... I love it when a plan comes together. It was a great day and we love that our members come out and get involved in these community activities. It would be as much fun without you…

we have been just hopping around here, as Bodilogix has become a real hub of activity as we gear up for an action packed summer.

Bodilogix was only too happy to “get Naked” for the fine folks of Cobourg at this years Canada Day Parade. What a great day!!!
Our fella’s Devin and Jeremy really turned heads down King street as they sported their fine physiques and little else but a towel. Obviously they have been working on those muscles with due diligence and where else but here at Bodilogix. “Great work guys”, “Keep on Keeping on!!!!”
That was Bodilogix Members Aida and Stephen cruising in the vintage 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Stephen immediately had us “SHAMWOW” his baby before packing it away in a cardboard box till next year. HA HA!
That was Chris Littlechild on drums in the biggest towel ever in the history of showering itself.
As the music was a pumping our usual gang of “cardio Goddesses kept the beat and got a workout that day. Special thanks to Miss Fran, Miss Melissa and of course Miss Lynda for their tireless energy and brilliant smiles as well as enthusiastic waving skills…
Dr. Kathy Bernard Thompson, husband Eric Thompson, Miss Melissa and Hubby Olaf and brood were kept very busy handing out no less than 660 bottles of ice-cold “Look better Naked” water to a thirsty crowd of thousands. Laura and Jeff Dalton, Mrs. Angie Howruluk, Miss Tracey Llewellyn and their little ones were kept on the run as well getting all that cold water to an enthusiastic flag waving crowd…Great job guys!
Speaking of Due Diligence… We were so pleased to have Deputy Chief Dave Cromlish join the “Naked Party” as one of Cobourg’s finest became “one of our own “ here at Bodilogix. In case you haven’t heard Dave Cromlish has revealed as of late his plan to lose 100 pounds and he has chosen to do this with the assistance of Personal trainer and co-Owner of Bodilogix Ms. Andrea Johnson right here at Bodilogix.
We are thrilled to take Dave under our wing and get him fit and Fabulous for his 51s Birthday.
Dave will be raising money for the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation to assist in the purchasing of a new ECG machine that is in need of updating. To learn more about the challenge and Dave’s journey over the next year as we shed 100 pounds of Deputy…or to make a donation or pledge visit www.nocopoutchallenge.ca. “Dave and Andrea’s Excellent adventure” as it has been coined by Dave himself will be well documented in all of its “glory” by way of daily blogs by these two characters take to the streets, the weights, the beach, the trails and beyond…
